White Quinoa
Quinoa (Kinwa) originated in the Andes region of Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador and Colombia, where it was used for human consumption 3,000 to 4,000 years before our era. Quinoa contains twice as much protein as rice and four times as much calcium as wheat! Quinoa also contains vitamin B, vitamin E, iron, copper, magnesium and amino acids such as lystin and cystinene. These essential amino acids are rarely found in other cereals and are also not produced by our bodies. And as if that were not enough, Quinoa is also gluten-free, which also contributes to the popularity of this superfood! There are 3,000 different types of Quinoa but the most common are White, Red and Black. Each colour has its own speciality. White Quinoa is the most common type. It has a sweet nutty flavour. Because the skin of white quinoa has been removed, it contains slightly less fibre and nutrients than red and black quinoa. Quinoa can be served cold or hot.
Using White Quinoa
