Details Origin of Couscous Couscous, also known as kuskus, is coarsely ground durum wheat semolina, originating from North Africa. Durum wheat semolina is transformed into small pellets using a rotating drum and dried in the same way as shelf-stable pasta. Both the dough pellets themselves and the dishes prepared with them are considered couscous dishes. Why Buy Whole Wheat Couscous? Ordering whole wheat couscous is a wise choice as it still contains the grain fiber. This makes whole wheat couscous rich in B vitamins, fiber, and minerals such as magnesium and zinc. Additionally, couscous is naturally rich in carbohydrates, which are an important source of energy for the body. Preparing Whole Wheat Couscous Place 250 ml of water in a large pan, add 1 tablespoon of oil and 1 teaspoon of salt, and bring it to a boil. Then remove the pan from the heat and add 250 g of couscous to the pan, stirring to combine. Cover the pan and let the couscous steep for 5 minutes. Use a fork to fluff the grains, and the couscous is ready to be served.
