Origin peanut
The peanut (Arachis Hypogaea) comes from the peanut plant. Botanically speaking it is not a nut but a legume containing two or three seeds. The peanut plant is an annual plant that originated in South America and was spread around the world by the Spaniards in the 16th century. Today, peanuts are produced all over the world. China is one of the largest producers of peanuts.
Production process Blanched Peanuts
The peanut plants are harvested in September and October, after which they are laid up with the peanuts to dry. After being dug up, the peanuts contain 25 to 50% moisture and must dry to 10% or less before they can be stored. After this process the peanuts are shelled and blanched.
