Carya illinoinensis (The Pecan Nut)
Carya illinoinensis, or the Pecan nut, is a tree found in the southern United States. The tree does best in subtropical regions and is therefore often planted there. The Pecan nut is oval-cilli shaped with many grooves and a reddish-brown skin. The trees begin to shed their nuts in the autumn, so Pecans are mainly harvested from September to November.
