Origin Amaranth seeds
Amaranth is the seed of the eponymous plant the Amaranth. It is a plant with long red stems. The Amaranth originally comes from South America and was an important food source for the Inca. The Aztecs also used the plant.
Production process Amaranth seeds
Amaranth appears in different species and can be divided into 3 different categories: pseudo-grain, vegetable, or ornamental. Some species are edible and the differences are more or less cultural preferences. They are all very nutritious. The species eaten as vegetables taste somewhat like spinach. The species whose seeds are eaten are pseudo-cereals. The seeds are ground into flour or eaten as quinoa with a similar protein kick.

Amaranth contains proteinte, is rich in vitamin B, vitamin E, magnesium, phosphorus and zinc. Amaranth organic is very versatile and can be used in various dishes. The taste is similar to Quinoa which is described as mildly nutty. The Amaranth seeds can be eaten as a substitute for rice or quinoa. Amaranth is also roasted just like corn, resulting in a kind of mini popcorn. Keep a lid on the pan because puffed Amaranth shoots out in all directions. If you make flour from the seeds, it can be used for baking (bread, biscuits, etc) or as a thickener for soups and sauces. The flakes can be made into porridge.
