Origin Linseed
Linseed is the seed of the flax plant. For this reason linseed is also called flax seed. It is used as a raw material for linseed oil, which is pressed from the seed with an oil mill. Flaxseed has a nutty flavour and is packed with nutrients including high fibre (27.3g/100g).
Omega 3
Linseed naturally contains high levels of omega 3, especially alpha-linolenic acid. Because the linseed is already ground, the Omega 3 fatty acids are released more easily and are better digested by the body. The ground linseed is very good for your intestines, as it ensures a better intestinal passage through the fibres and it also supports your sense of satiety.
Use
Ground flaxseeds are a versatile ingredient in German cuisine for baking and cooking. They can be used as an egg substitute in vegan recipes by mixing them with water to serve as a binding agent. Additionally, ground flaxseeds can be added as a healthy ingredient in baked goods such as bread, cookies, and granola bars to increase the fiber content. The use of ground flaxseeds in German cuisine offers a flavorful and nutritious way to enhance your dishes, as long as they are properly cooked or baked.
