Details Origin cep The Cep (Boletus edulis) is a common edible mushroom that occurs in Europe and North America along lanes and in deciduous and pine forests. The growing period of the cep in these areas is from July to November, because then the conditions are best. Characteristics of the Cep The cap of the cep has a light to dark brown colour. The mushroom can grow to a size of thirty centimetres and is somewhat sticky when wet. On the underside of the cap of the cep is a spongy-like system of fine tubes visible that is first white and later yellow. Production process Ceps Granulate The cep is after harvesting first cut into pieces. The pieces then go into the oven to dry. After drying, the pieces are handpicked and processed into ceps granulate.
